The Granny Lamp (Jumbo Size) is a de-contextualization in size and materiality of the typical lamps our grandmas have on their side table. It captures the essence of traditional lamps we all love while giving it a modern feel.
The Granny Lamp towers most lamps at its 36 inches / 92cm. This lamp will certainly capture people’s attention and curiosity.
The materiality is narrow in range, all based on a raw linen shape and resins to fix it in place. However, you can request your own fabric to fit your project. This will come at a different rate.
A soft diffused light exaggerates the effect of weightlessness of this piece. The texture is pleasant to the touch and has the roughness of the fabric embedded in the resins and the smoothness of a continuous and seamless form. Behind the shades, a lackered steel structure holds everything in place effortlessly. The Granny Lamp (Jumbo Size) is currently under development and will be manufactured upon request. Lead time is of 12 weeks.
Kilzi is a young design project by architect Jorge Suárez-Kilzi, based in Barcelona, Spain. Manufacture is located in Spain and in Mexico. Soon Japan. The design process of all of the items under this project focus on craftsmanship and its values.
Due to the highly manual work that go into Kilzi’s designs, every piece is unique in shape, size, form and materiality. This gives the owner the certainty of having a one-off piece, never to be repeated identically in another piece. Defect and human trace are sought after as testimony of the hands that created it.
The inspiration behind most of these pieces usually arises from small human moments and the feelings. Cherishing tradition and history as well as nature and its values in modern society.
